Classic Motorcycles Run - 23rd May 2010
On Sunday 23rd May Glenlivet Hall was the 2nd checkpoint in a motorcycle
regularity run organised by the Historic Wheels Club and Highland Classic
Motorcycle Cub. This was the first time the two clubs had organised such
an event. The run started and finished at the Motor Museum in Elgin and
covered a distance of 65 miles. The route took the motorbikes through
Dallas, Knockando, Glenlivet, Dufftown to Maggieknockater and finally on
to the B9103 back to Elgin.
A total of 19 motorcycles took part in the run the oldest being a 1936
AJS v-twin. For those of you not familiar with these types of events a
Regularity run means that the drivers have to drive at an average 30mph
and will get points deducted for an early/late arrival at the checkpoints.
While at the Glenlivet Hall the drivers and organisers of the event were
treated to refreshments and home bakes provided by some members of the
Hall Committee.
The organisers praised the efforts of the Glenlivet Community and hoped
to repeat the event next year.
